I remember the first time I ran across an article online that talked about free money.

I’m pretty sure I rolled my eyes, but curiosity got the best of me and of course I clicked on the article.

By the end of the article, I had followed her steps and at the end of the day had a check on its way to my mail box.

Did you know tons of people have money literally just sitting around waiting for them to claim it?

Find Free Money

You can go to your local state government web site to see if you have money owed to you by companies. Most people get busy with life and forget they have money owed to them or don’t even know about it because they moved and the companies cannot find them.

It really does happen all the time and it’s worth checking out on a regular basis.

Another fantastic way to find free money is by simply shopping for items you already need online using a program like Rakuten! You simply sign up, shop like you always do and earn a percentage back from your purchases.

Could it be any easier? I don’t think so.

Make Money Shopping

For example, I did my grocery shopping online using Rakuten and earn a percentage back! Honestly, it’s almost too easy!

Another way I love to find free money online is utilizing free search engines and sharing my opinion through sites like Swagbucks. It is the easiest and most enjoyable free survey site that isn’t full of gimmicks. To date, I’ve earned gift cards for coffee, gas and even Amazon!

Honestly, I love sharing with others how to make money online or how to earn extra income by flipping items.

11 Items To Resell and Make Money Fast

If you are looking for a simple way to make money fast, check out my list of 11 items that you should be able to sell for a profit! Be sure to read to the end and I’ll share my favorite resell outlets!

  1. High End Kids Clothes: I’ve noticed that high end and boutique brand clothing sells quickly if they are in good quality. Double check for stains and tears and if it passes the test, sell it! A good rule of thumb is to ask 60% less than what you paid for it!
  2. Large Kids Toys: Dollhouses, outdoor toys or unique wooden toys sell quickly and usually at a good price! You may want to see what the going prices are for used items in your area to hep gauge what your asking price should be.
  3. Gently Worn Shoes: Another big selling item for me has been gently worn shoes: think Converse, Nike or other name brands.
  4. Home Decor: Did you buy a farmhouse sign that didn’t quite fit on the wall like you hoped? I’ve noticed that home decor can go quickly if priced right. Especially if it is in like new condition!
  5. Kids Sports/Elective equipment: Think baseball gloves, ballet tutus, tap shoes, etc. These are hot ticket items and usually sell well if they are in good condition.
  6. Luggage: This is a surprisingly easy sell in our area. Luggage can get expensive fast so many folks will check for used options first!
  7. Large Furniture Items: I haven noticed items like dressers, chests or any kind of large furniture can sell quickly if priced right.
  8. Organizational Items: Cubbies, storage cubes, storage containers. These sell well right before school starts as many teachers are browsing for items for their classrooms.
  9. Large Appliances: If you recently updated your washer, dryer or maybe even your fridge–these can go quickly and for a good price.
  10. Collectible Toys: Think Shopkins, Pokemon, Harry Potter, any collectors item that maybe hard to find.
  11. Homeschool Curriculum: This is another hot ticket items. If you have unused workbooks or teacher guides laying around unused, these will often sell for excellent prices!

So, where exactly do you resell these items? I recommend large furniture pieces, toys, books, etc for yard sales. For high end kids clothing and toys, I have always had great luck with consignment sales. Online yard sales are also great for just about anything! Just be sure to take safety measures and meet in public areas. Most local police departments offer meeting grounds for those making online transactions.

3 Things You Need To Do Before Starting Your Blog

Starting your blog can be both an exciting and overwhelming adventure. Today, we are sharing three tips that will help you get started on a positive journey to blogging online!

#1 Figure Out Your Audience and Subject Matter

The first thing you want to do before anything else is to brainstorm the audience you hope to capture and what your ultimate subject matter will be.

A simple way to get inspiration for this is by searching Pinterest. Use the search bar to check out whether or not the subjects that you want to blog about is trending or not. You definitely want a topic that gets volume on Pinterest as it is one of the simplest ways to gain traffic even with a new blog! You can read more tips about Pinterest here.

#2 Double Check Your Domain Name Ideas

Before you register your domain name I highly recommend checking to see if you will be able to get the matching names on social media outlets. For example, if your domain name was called JaneDoeLovesChocolate, you would want to make sure that name is also available on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

You will also want to make sure it is available on Pinterest (even though it’s not a social media). This will help you set your brand up for success.

#3 Brainstorm at least 10 to 20 Posts

This can’t be stated enough: Take a few days to brainstorm post ideas and post titles. If you can start your blog out with great content right away you will be well ahead of the game! This will also look favorable on search engines.

After you’ve completed these three steps, you may be ready to start your own blog! Check out my tips for starting a blog from scratch here.

How to Look Like a Pro Blogger

Have you just started your blogging journey? Well, get ready to take notes as I’ve got a few tips for you today to make your blog shine like the pros!

Start With 10 to 20 Posts: Before you publish your blog to the world, take a week or two to formulate posts. Try to aim for at least 10 to 20 articles for your readers to sift through. When they click on your blog, you want them to have more than enough articles to read to keep them coming back!

Create a Killer About Page: Your about page should answer a few of your traditional “who, what, why” questions. This gives your readers an understanding of who you are and what your mission will be with your blog!

Add Photos or Graphics: Nothing makes a blog stand out quite like adding photography or graphics. I wrote a detailed blog post on how to make your blogger photos stand out here.

Share Your Story: Ultimately, give your readers THE STORY. The reason behind your why or what got you started on the path to creating your web site.

Create a Menu: One of the most frustrating things that new bloggers fail to do is to create a menu. If your readers enjoy a blog post, they will more than likely want to see what else you have to offer. Make sure your menu is near the top and well laid out. It’s a simple, yet effective way to look like a pro blogger.

How To Make Money Online

I think a lot of people are intimidated with the idea of learning how to make money online-especially through web sites. The thing is, if you don’t have a typical business web site, you can still make money with a personal blog! I did it for years and it was such a wonderful (and dare I say FUN?) opportunity.

{Notice: This post contains affiliate links. This means I may receive a small commission (at no additional cost to you) if you purchase through one of my link(s). Thank you for your support and consideration!}

The cool thing about blogging for money with a personal blog is that you can use any platform. On the flip side, you can STILL start a web site and utilize these tips as well. Just do what fits YOUR lifestyle best.

So, how did I make over $300 in one month?

The first thing I did was sign up for a blogging community that connected bloggers with companies. Within days, I was getting responses to my inquiries.

  •  I signed up to review and write an article about a national company. In exchange, they paid me $200.
  • I signed up for another blogging community and participated in their weekly online marketing meetings (co-hosted by companies). During these meetings, they gave away $100 gift cards. By simply participating on a regular basis, I won!

Do your research and find communities that fit your niche.

For starters, I would recommend checking out The Sway!

When you blog, whether it’s a personal bog or a business web site, your #1 goal should be networking within community platforms. This allows you to maximize the avenues on how you can learn to make money online.

How To Earn Extra Income With An Online Side Hustle

It doesn’t matter what stage of life you are in, earning extra money is always a bonus! Whether it’s to beef up your savings, help save for your kids college or just save up for that dream vacation, extra money can come in handy! Even better, when it’s extra money that you can make from home.

I’ve spent the last decade exploring every avenue of working online. I find it both fascinating and fun to come up with fun side gigs!

Today, I’m sharing my top three ways to earn extra money with an online side gig!

One-Try Your Hand at Copywriting!

This was, hands down, my favorite online gig. I’ve talked it about it before on previous articles on the web, but it’s worth repeating again: try copywriting!

There are dozens of avenues out there, but I would start with Fiverr or Freelancer.

Two-Try Your Hand at Blogging!

Second to copywriting, blogging has been one of my favorite outlets for well over a decade. I’ve blogged for cash, for books, for free products, etc. It’s a great way to get your feet wet without investing much time.

You can start a blog with Siteground! They are very easy to use.

Three-The Classic Survey Method

Last, but not least, there’s always the classic survey method. Personally, the only success that I’ve had with surveys was through Swagbucks! I’ve earned $$$ in gift cards over the years. It was a great way to fund my coffee addiction and Christmas shopping.

Those are my top three favorite ways to earn online. What are some of your favorite side gigs? I would love to hear more!
